User Experience Design for Motivation and Persistence of Repetitive Action:
AI Chatbot-Based Writing Application Service Proposal
Abstract
Modern people pursue a high-quality mental life and perform repetitive actions for inner stability. Writing is a process of subjectification, which is meaningful in itself to continue. Although practice is emphasized in order to get help from writing as a process of subjectification, it is difficult for many modern people to form the habit of writing. This study examined a design strategy that motivates users who find it difficult to practice to continue their behavior as a way to induce behavior habituation. To this end, I conducted user research to help the continuous practice of writing and derived a user-experience (UX) concept for a writing app that applies conversational interaction with an AI chatbot. Subsequently, the presentation of user’s writings and continuous conversation induction through notifications from chatbots was confirmed as a motivating factor that allows users to engage in repetitive actions without needing to make an effort of will. It is expected that various daily experiences will be urged through the chatbot interface, which can be utilized in various services where repetitive actions and continuous performance are important.
